Hello. I have recently gotten into making my own spirit. Looking around at various aspects of this very interesting hobby I have noticed that certain things are not readily available so I thought I would help to address this.

Thank you Penguinslide for the comments much appreciated. There were 39 comments along with yours 38 went in the bin. I have never seen so much rubbish in all my life. Most of it came from Russia so you can guess what it was about. Distilling did not get a mention.

I recently began distilling in a 50 litre reflux still I bought on eBay, the instructions I was given weren’t very clear & it seemed impossible to get a clear response from the polish seller :/
Every run I did produced a real awful smelling alcohol, I’d have to carbon filter at least 3 times to make it not smell like a chemical explosion!
    Even then it wasnt great.
My local hbs wasn’t much help either, they suggested I put steel rings in the column to filter it, this was absolutely no use by the way, it was just a waste of £20.
I now know my local hbs distilling knowledge is based on the t500 & anything beyond that isn’t worth asking about.
So after much reading & soul searching, I decided to try the copper mesh in the column, this helped massively but still wasn’t right.
I ordered your sulphur beater copper mesh roll & followed your advice by placing it at the top of my column.
I’m now producing perfectly odour free neutral alcohol & im no longer carbon filtering.
So I’d like to say a massive THANK YOU to whiskeyman, without your help I’d have given up this brilliant hobby.
I’m planning on putting a sight glass on my column maybe 2 (1 at the top 1 at the bottom?)
I’ll have to discuss this in detail with you.
    Thanks
    Penguinslide

Hi, thank you for your comment. I just write when time permits. I just tell it as I see it whatever it is. Some of it may be right some of it may be wrong. It’s up to the reader to take away
    what they want.

  5. Admin says:

Well all I can say is that I think you should stick what you know. You are obviously wasted on junk vehicles. Writing is what you should concentrate on.I think you are also missing the point
this is a hobby site a fun site for amateurs. This is a not a factual you must do this you must do that.It is just an expression of one’s thoughts and one’s thoughts do tent to jump about a bit.

It’s amazing to visit this web page and reading the views of all colleagues on the topic of
this piece of writing, while I am also keen of getting experience.

  8. Admin says:

I am equally uncertain where I get my info, what does it matter? I only put forward what I believe to be correct.
Of coarse I do put my opinion out as well lol.

Hello Natalie at least you put your name in. Please i do not want to be rude, but I am not in the least bit interested. This is hobby stuff not business.

  12. Admin says:

Hello who ever you are. I do not give a S*** what you think I should or should not be doing. This is an amateur site for amateur people. This not a business.
I thank you for your interest but please just leave us/me Lone. Thank you.

Hi my name is Natalie and I just wanted to drop you a quick message here instead of calling you. I came to your Comment. – Distilling Dominoes page and noticed you could have a lot more visitors. I have found that the key to running a popular website is making sure the visitors you are getting are interested in your subject matter. There is a company that you can get keyword targeted visitors from and they let you try the service for free for 7 days. I managed to get over 300 targeted visitors to day to my site. Check it out here: http://yxbp.com/2m6y

Useful write-up. Thanks a lot for sharing.

  16. Admin says:

Hi I’m sorry I do not have any newsletter service. I do not have the time to run anything like that. This is a hobby site not a business site. If I sell anything that is a bonus. Not the purpose of the site. Sorry but this is all self hosted and I do not have the time or the knowledge to do that sort of thing.

  17. Toby Jonker says:

I will immediately grasp your rss feed as I can not find your e-mail subscription hyperlink or newsletter service. Do you have any? Kindly let me know so that I may just subscribe. Thanks.

    Hello Codi,

    No it’s not from them.

  19. Codi says:

What wordpress theme are you using on your site? Is it from these guys by any chance: http://www.nuttythemes.com

  20. Admin says:

    Hi Mark,

Sorry for delay in answering. Been busy making things. If I new where I could buy some bubble plates at a sensible price I would. If I new how to make some I would.
You are not the first one to comment on my crap website. It is all my own doing and I no nothing about web design only what I have picked up on You Tube. But I do take on board what you say.
Having looked at it I agree it is confusing. Must try harder. It is such a lot of messing about with getting PayPal buttons as you want them and then something updates and the button stops working it’s all a nightmare, especially when your old like me well 68 anyway.
Thank you for your comment anyway.

    Ian.

Directed here from eBay. Great prices, received my order quickly.
Just a note, the website was so awkward to use that I nearly went back to eBay for the purchase. Could do with a price and an “add to basket” next to pictures rather than a separate price page.
Any chance that you`ll be offering 4″ bubble plate sections with tri-clamp mounts anytime soon?
    Thanks, Mark

  22. Owen says:

Hi, I have tried to send you a message via your ‘contact us’ page but it doesn’t seem to be working… Hopefully you will see my email address via this comment as I would like to discuss getting some bespoke pieces made. Thanks, Owen.

  23. Admin says:

    Hi Brian,
Thank you for the comment. Always nice to know when folks are satisfied and happy with their purchase.

  24. jas says:

This guy is top notch and dominoes are double six and delivery is better than getting it yourself
and a pleasure and no international postage and get it pronto.
    All the best.

  25. Admin says:

    Hi Mark,
Thank you for your comment. I do try to be helpful and resourceful in either making things or sourcing things that I think will be useful in the pursuance of our hobby. I don’t always succeed with the pricing as the materials are so expensive these days and the postage costs tend to spoil things a bit. But thank you for your purchase.

  26. Mark Stanway says:

Just wanted to say how happy I am with my purchase, great to see someone in the uk offering such hard to find items at very competitive price, great work A++++++++

  27. Admin says:

    Hi Izzy,
That is a very nice comment. Thank you. I would just say one thing we are not a company it is just me. It is more of a hobby so I hope it does not get out of hand and I start letting people down.

  28. Izzy says:

    Hi,

I found this company on ebay. But wish I’d come to the website as the choices are far better prices far more competitive and no middle man making an obscene profit of the sellers. Great next day service.

Good luck for the future. But I don’t think you’ll need luck as a website like this soon gets shared.

  29. Smiff says:

Stumbled across this site when looking for some other wood types to flavour my Turbo Ciders as I needed a break from American White Oak, so I ordered some Cheery wood dominoes.
My order was delivered super-fast and the product perfect for my needs, great stuff, keep it up.

  30. Tony says:

I ordered a bespoke copper funnel. It was swiftly and well made and arrived safely and well packed.
A pleasure to deal with enthusiastic, helpful and (given my postage refund) very honest individuals.

  31. Lou says:

Just bought a Liebig, very pleased with it, works a treat. Thank you.
